Co-Occurring Disorders (COD)
Change Agents
Under the Bedford-Somerset CCISC -COD Initiative, a new group has been formed call the Change Agents. The first meeting of the Change Agents was held in June of 2010.
- A COD Change Agent is a voluntary leadership position designed to help everyone learn attitudes, values, knowledge and skills related to providing welcoming, recovery oriented services to individuals and families with co-occurring issues.
- Change Agents help their own organization or agency, and the system as a whole, be reorganized to provide more welcoming, recovery oriented, accessible, integrated, continuous, and comprehensive services.
- The CCISC is both a framework and a process for designing a whole system of care to be about the complex needs (mental health, substance use, medical, legal, trauma, housing, parenting, vocational, cognitive learning and educational issues) of individuals and families being served.
- In order for systems with scarce resources to successfully address these needs, we are engaging in a process of organizing everything we do to be about all the complex needs of people and families seeking help. Change Agents play a pivotal role in this systems change initiative!
