DESCRIPTION:This workshop is about paying attention: to your purpose\, to your intentions\, to your beliefs about what you do\, to your strengths and energy levels. Even in a job that is under-recognized by society or others in your life\, one can zero in on the purpose of remaining involved and connected to our daily round at work. One can find various ways to re-ignite a sense of satisfaction – even excitement – about how what it is they do contributes to other people’s lives\, to the world. Even if the job you are doing isn’t the one you’ll always be doing\, this matters. The first place we’ll start is with an inward look at what ignites your ‘passion’ or drive or spirit in general – and then examine ways we can harness this knowledge to augment our work life. Next\, we’ll get creative in finding a variety of things about your daily tasks and duties that can be re-worked\, looked at differently\, improved\, or otherwise re-created to bring you more satisfaction and a more liberating attitude about what you do that matters so much. Having a sense of purpose and passion for what we do is not only important to the people and systems we serve\, but also to our own overall well-being – mentally\, spiritually\, emotionally\, physically. It keeps us ‘alive’ in the best sense\, and in turn\, compliments and enriches our non-work life as well\, including the relationships we hold dear. That alone\, perhaps\, can be the catalyst for a determination to re-ignite\, on a regular basis\, our passion for what we do.

SUMMARY:Psychopharmacology Training
DESCRIPTION:This course describes the impact of a drugs’ mechanisms of action upon the body. The first part of the course focuses upon how drugs impact neurons and neurotransmitters\, how drugs are delivered\, move through the body and brain\, how they are eliminated and how these mechanisms impact the effect of drugs upon the body. The second half of the workshop will explore new psychedelic treatments for treatment resistant depression and traumatic brain injuries and why they may be more effective than current pharmaceutical treatments. In addition\, the workshop will identify new synthetic opioids and their risks for drug overdose\, methamphetamine’s impact on the dopamine receptor system and methamphetamine induced psychosis.

SUMMARY:Seeking Safety Training
DESCRIPTION:Seeking Safety is an evidence-based\, present-focused counseling model to help people attain safety from trauma and/or addiction. The model has been used with adults and adolescents (and some elements can be used with younger ages). At every session\, both trauma and addiction are addressed but without delving into the past (the detailed narrative of disturbing trauma and addiction memories). It can thus be implemented with any client\, from the start of treatment\, at all levels of care and the full range of treatment settings. So too any facilitator can conduct it\, including all types of professionals as well as peers\, paraprofessionals\, and advocates. It does not require licensure\, experience\, or training.
