SUMMARY:Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence: Advocacy\, Awareness & Prevention Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This all-day workshop is filled with eye opening education\, lived experience and personal development sponsored by BHSSBC and the 1889 Foundation. Jennifer uses her experience as a domestic violence survivor and her anti-human trafficking advocacy to help healthcare and human service professionals as well as families\, meet the needs of victims and survivors by using Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Pyramid and Johari Window. This workshop will equip and educate healthcare and human service providers\, who can play an important role in recognizing the mental health impact that comes from domestic violence and human trafficking trauma. Participants will also become familiar with services in Pennsylvania as well as implement strategies to properly identify\, treat\, and empower human trafficking and domestic violence youth victims and survivors. Setting healthy boundaries is a key component to self-care. It can reduce stress and increase self-esteem\, which is important to career success and personal satisfaction. Additionally\, boundaries define effective and appropriate interaction between self and others\, whether in the workplace\, at home\, or in the community. This topic is geared towards stimulating meaningful discussions and critical thinking to improve healthy boundaries with self and others\, work/life balance\, as well as increase knowledge of how personal issues can affect the workplace. Cassie’s victim advocacy journey began with her own experience as a survivor of child tracking. She emphasizes the importance of prevention and intervention to protect our children. Cassie addresses the epidemic of child sexual abuse and the reality of child sex trafficking in America. Presented by Jennifer Foxworthy and Cassandra Smith.

SUMMARY:Suicide Screening and Assessment for Suicide Prevention
DESCRIPTION:Health care providers can help identify persons at risk by carrying out screening programs. However\, when screening for suicide risk\, it is important to have resources and systems in place to connect anyone identified as being at risk to appropriate follow-up care and assistance.  Screening efforts should never be standalone programs. They are more effective when conducted as part of a comprehensive strategic plan that begins with an assessment of the local context and the resources available to address the suicide problem.  In this webinar we will discuss the following: What is a suicide screening and when to use and how often?\, What is a suicide assessment and when to use?\, formulating a risk assessment\, suggested screening tools and developing a policy around suicide screening. and assessment. Presented by Andrei Nemoianu\, MD from Community Care Behavioral Health.
