SUMMARY:Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes\, first aid isn’t \na bandage\, \nor CPR\, \nor the Heimlich\, \nor calling 911. \nSometimes\, first aid is YOU! \n  \nSomeone you know could be experiencing a mental health \nchallenge or crisis. YOU CAN HELP THEM. \n  \nYou are more likely to encounter someone — friend\, family member\, \nco-worker\, neighbor\, or member of the community — in an emotional or \nmental crisis than someone having a heart attack. Mental Health First Aid \nteaches a five-step action plan to offer initial help to people with the signs \nand symptoms of a mental illness or in a crisis\, and connect them with the \nappropriate professional\, peer\, social\, or self-help care. Anyone can \ntake the eight-hour Mental Health First Aid course — first \nresponders\, students\, teachers\, leaders of faith communities\, \nhuman resources professionals\, and caring citizens. \n  \nSometimes\, the best first aid is you. \nTake the course\, save a life\, strengthen \nyour community.

SUMMARY:QPR Suicide Prevention Training
DESCRIPTION:How to Question\, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal\n-How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide\n-The common causes of suicidal behavior\n-The warning signs of suicide\n-How to get help for someone in crisis \n-Resources to support an individual in crisis \n  \nQPR stands for Question\, Persuade\, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. \nJust as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year\, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question\, persuade\, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans\, like you\, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend\, colleague\, sibling\, or neighbor. \nThe QPR training program is overseen by the QPR institute and has been determined to be taught as a 3-hour course. Participants will be required to participate with video\, audio\, and microphone capabilities. Brief breaks will be taken each hour to decrease learner fatigue.
