State Plan Services

HealthChoices members are eligible to receive state plan services offered by their choice of at least two service providers as well as additional supplemental services that have been approved for use by the BHSSBC HealthChoices Program.

  • Behavior Consultant: Designs and directs the implementation of a behavior modification intervention plan which is individualized to each individual and family’s needs.  They identify behavioral goals and intervention techniques and recommend behavioral change methods and serve as a consultant within the treatment team.  They provide assessment, program design, and monitoring.
  • Mobile Therapy: Provides intensive therapeutic services to a child and family in settings other than a provider agency or office. Provides child-centered, family-focused, individual, and family psychotherapy that addresses defined problems and will utilize a strengths-based approach, which includes the child and parents/caretakers in the treatment and as members of the treatment team.
  • Behavioral Health Technician: Provides one-on-one interventions to an individual in various settings when the behavior without this intervention would require a more restrictive treatment or educational setting. Services include crisis intervention techniques, immediate behavioral reinforcements, emotional support, time-structuring activities, time out strategies, and additional psychosocial rehabilitative activities as prescribed in the treatment plan. Works to transfer those skills to the individual and the individual’s natural supports.
  • After School Program (ASP): Community or center-based individualized intensive therapeutic designed to improve social and emotional functioning and meet the unique mental health needs of individuals with a mental health diagnosis in a group setting. Service is provided after school hours.

Mental Health Targeted Case Management
A case manager works with you to help you get the resources and services you need in your community and works to help you set and reach your goals.

Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST)*
An intensive treatment program for children and adolescents intended to promote positive social behavior and decrease antisocial behavior within the family, school, and community. It typically involves an initial evaluation to determine the goals of the therapy for the family, individual therapy with the juvenile and family members, peer interventions, crisis stabilization, and case management over several months.
