Community Care Behavioral Health Organization
Effective July 1, 2019, BHSSBC began a contract with Community Care as an Administrative Service Organization (ASO) performing defined administrative functions. This transition and implementation ended BHSSBC’s partnership with PerformCare (CBHNP). Providers and Members should contact Community Care for any billing, enrollment, access, and care issues that occur after July 1, 2019. BHSSBC provides oversight and monitoring of all Community Care’s activities to ensure full compliance with its contract with the Department of Human Services (DHS).
Community Care’s role will be to:
- Improve Access to Care
- Improve Quality of Care

Community Care manages the provider network that delivers the approved services. All providers are credentialed for the level of care they deliver.
- Community Care monitors the member’s progress in the treatment being provided as well as the provider’s development of aftercare plans to ensure each member’s needs are being met.
- The provider provides the day-to-day treatment, interventions, and plans for the member’s discharge to the least intrusive service.
- Community Care determines if the requested service meets the state’s established medical necessity criteria.
