Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania
Effective November 1, 2025, BHSSBC began a contract with Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania (Magellan) as an Administrative Service Organization (ASO) performing defined administrative functions. This transition and implementation ended BHSSBC’s partnership with Community Care (CCBH). Providers and Members should contact Magellan for any billing, enrollment, access, and care issues that occur after November 1, 2025. BHSSBC provides oversight and monitoring of all Magellan’s activities to ensure full compliance with its contract with the Department of Human Services (DHS).
Magellan’s role will be to:
- Improve Access to Care
- Improve Quality of Care
- Manage Care
- Pay Claims
Magellan manages the provider network that delivers the approved services. All providers are credentialed for the level of care they deliver.
- Magellan monitors the members’ progress in the treatment being provided as well as the provider’s development of aftercare plans to ensure each member’s needs are being met.
- The provider provides the day-to-day treatment, interventions, and plans for the member’s discharge to the least intrusive service.
- Magellan determines if the requested service meets the state’s established medical necessity criteria.
